Chemical Operator / Raw Materials Operator (Stand-Up Forklift & Reach Truck)

Location: La Porte, TX

Hourly Rate: $21.18

Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts (days/nights, weekends as required)

Job Summary

We are seeking a safety-focused Chemical Operator / Raw Materials Operator to support production operations in a chemical manufacturing facility. This role involves receiving, staging, transporting, and issuing raw materials while strictly adhering to safety, environmental, and quality procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate stand-up forklifts and reach trucks to move raw materials, chemicals, and finished goods
• Load, unload, stage, and deliver materials to production areas
• Handle drums, totes, bags, and pallets of raw chemical materials
• Verify materials using batch tickets, labels, and inventory documentation
• Follow SOPs, SDS/MSDS guidelines, and plant safety procedures
• Perform visual inspections of containers for leaks, damage, or labeling issues
• Maintain clean and organized work areas following 5S and housekeeping standards
• Assist with inventory counts and material tracking
• Communicate material shortages, discrepancies, or safety concerns to supervision

Required Qualifications

• Experience in a chemical, manufacturing, or industrial plant environment
• Proficient in operating stand-up forklifts and reach trucks
• Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts
• Comfortable working around chemicals and wearing required PPE
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks throughout the shift

Preferred Qualifications

• Forklift certification
• Experience handling hazardous or regulated materials
• Prior experience in chemical manufacturing or production facilities
• Familiarity with PPE requirements and exposure to chemicals, noise, and varying temperatures
