Met Council is America’s largest Jewish charity dedicated to serving the needy. Our programs are staffed by experts who help over 325,000 clients each year and advocate on behalf of all needy New Yorkers. Our services include 100% affordable housing at 21 locations, family violence services, Holocaust survivor assistance, geriatric social work, crisis intervention and the largest free kosher food distribution program in the world. Our network of 101 food pantries, affordable housing sites, and affiliated JCCs provide services directly in neighborhoods across New York City.

Position Summary:

The Social Worker provides comprehensive, client-centered case management services to individuals and families in Boro Park and the surrounding communities. This role focuses on supporting clients through periods of crisis while working collaboratively to build stability, access resources, and develop sustainable plans for the future.

The Social Worker takes a holistic and trauma-informed approach, ensuring that services are thoughtful, coordinated, and responsive to the full scope of each client’s needs.

Principal Responsibilities:

Client Services & Case Management

  • Provide comprehensive case management services, including intake, assessment, service planning, and ongoing follow-up
  • Conduct holistic assessments to fully understand client needs, strengths, and goals
  • Support clients in navigating crises related to financial instability, housing, food access, safety, and public benefits
  • Assist clients with applying for benefits and entitlements (e.g., Medicaid, One Shot Deal, SCRIE/DRIE, SSI)
  • Obtain necessary documentation and releases to support service delivery
  • Provide supportive counseling to clients in individual and, when appropriate, group settings
  • Conduct home visits as needed to better understand client circumstances and provide support in context
  • Research and connect clients to relevant community resources and internal services
  • Work collaboratively with agency leadership and interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care

Documentation and Program Requirements

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough case documentation in Salesforce in accordance with Social Services and funder guidelines
  • Ensure case notes reflect the full scope of client engagement, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes
  • Utilize Salesforce to support continuity of care, track client progress, and inform service planning
  • Comply with all grant requirements and support the preparation of reports as needed
  • Participate in individual and group supervision, and engage in ongoing learning and reflection
  • Additional responsibilities as required

Skill and Education:

  • LMSW or MSW (required); BSW with significant relevant experience considered
  • SIFI/SIPI certification a plus
  • 1-3+ years of experience in case management, social services, or a related field
  • Knowledge of public benefits and entitlement programs (e.g., Medicaid, One Shot Deal, SCRIE/DRIE, SSI) (preferred)
  • Familiarity with community-based resources and service navigation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management systems, including Outlook, Salesforce, or similar platforms
  • Yiddish or Hebrew language skills (strongly preferred)

Compensation: $65,000 per year
